MRH 6th Win of 2023!

With Seize the Grey's 16-1 win today that was my 6th MRH winner this year. Who Runs the World, Inspector, Magical Ways, Phantom Ride and Balletic were my other 5 winners. I bought a micro share in Seize the Grey for my wife Laura who loves grey horses. Nice event the other night at Sycuan Casino and I met some nice MRH people there. A Day to Remember ran well in the first race of his career finishing 3rd. Good luck to all MRH owners and God Bless everyone. v/r Edward Stecher, USAF and Vietnam veteran.

MyRacehorse Hi Edward, Thank you for the positive feedback, we are so happy to hear you're enjoying your ownership experience with MyRacehorse! We're also so excited for Seize the Grey's recent success and can't wait to see how he continues to progress. Many friendships have been curated through the MyRacehorse platform, we love to hear about the connections made through a shared passion for horses.

A Mo Reay

I loved this filly & was very disappointed when MRH decided selling her in the 2022 November Night Of The Stars sale. Whoever decided to sell A Mo Reay in this sale made a very bad decision. Sold for $400,000 & she’s gone on to win $634,250. Her value as a broodmare far exceeds what she’s won.

MyRacehorse Hi Kimberly, There is do doubt that A Mo Reay has been doing terrific with two wins and a lifetime best speed figure since joining Brad Cox. When we decided to sell, Spendthrift and MRH believed we had given her solid opportunities to maximize her value and thought the 2022 Night of The Stars sale was the best time to realize that value creation. We knew breeders would love her page and the Grade 1 Frizette placing, not to mention that the broodmare market was near historic highs and very favorable to sellers. We sold a horse that had never won a graded stakes race for $400k so we thought we did very well for all involved. We had some fun with her, got some wins, and were able to pay off the deferred debt to Spendthrift, and return some capital to the partners. However, as the recent results have shown, we probably should have kept her for another year. This is the high stakes game of racehorse ownership. When it comes to selling, history has proven most of the time our team has been right, but this is a time that we may indeed be proven wrong. As a stable made up of tens of thousands of passionate owners we do prefer to keep horses in the stable for as long as possible, but also take our fiduciary responsible seriously. It's a delicate balance, and we will continue to look to optimize our approach. As for A Mo Reay, we will continue to root for her and wish her new owners nothing but the best.

They do a great job of keeping you updated on the horses. Offer a handful of get together a if you are close to a track. You won’t make much money though. Overall i invested in probably a dozen horses. I have yet to make my money back, and I don’t see a route to where I even break even. You’ll see your horse win and the payout is $1.35 for you.

MyRacehorse Hi E. Norma, We're glad you enjoy the updates! We love providing owners with access to a lot of the perks any owner would expect to receive. First is the exclusive content, including the updates you mentioned on the health/training progress of your horse, but we also plan events like tours of the backside while your horse is at the track and even farm tours for those that may have purchased a horse that is not yet racing. Your horse company is a for-profit entity. If the horse is ultimately profitable—which is measured against the cost of purchasing the horse, training, and maintenance, and other costs associated with operating the horse series company—you can expect to receive a dividend. MyRacehorse allows racing fans to experience ownership through micro-shares at an affordable cost with all the perks of a majority owner. It is a one time payment, there are no out of pocket expenses after your initial purchase. It is possible to make a profit, however, there’s no guarantee that the horse will turn out to be profitable, and not every horse is profitable. Because of this, we really cherish the big wins and emphasize that MyRacehorse is very experience based. We work really hard to provide the best ownership experience possible!

Waiting & Wondering about Rosie

The last update on Rosie was 7/8. She was supposed to have bloodwork + an additional work before shipping back to the Pletcher barn. I'm concerned. Has she had another setback? I understand you're busy but some word on Rosie would be much appreciated. I would hope that with Roses For Debra's Caress win + Justify's recent turf winners, Rosie would be moving up on your radar. I don't believe Pletcher has any outstanding turf fillies so I'm hoping Rosie may be the one! Thank you and appreciate you.

MyRacehorse Hi Janet, Thanks for the feedback, Rosie is doing well! We think you'll be pleased to see the racing team has been providing more consistent updates for her owners. In fact, just a few days ago Rosie’s Alibi was back on the work tab at Churchill Downs and continues to progress nicely!

MyRacehorse Hi Angelica, We understand your frustration, we know owning a racehorse is best experienced when you have a chance to visit your racehorse and we do our best to set up as many visits to see your thoroughbred as possible. Last year alone we had over 300 tours for our partners to visit their horses. They are all posted on the app under the events section. We currently have 5 free owner perk events posted for the remainder of September. Additionally, we have lots of Florida events planned that will be coming to the website soon, so keep an eye out for those!

Ask the partners

This is in response to a response made by MRH you don't understand he just won at the allowance level a year ago and is not forgiven a chance in 2023 at the same level if you don't believe me ask the partners they say all of it the same thing we're the ones who pay you guys right?

MyRacehorse Hi Jeff, Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear that you feel this way. There are a number of considerations when determining what level to place horses in and how long they should compete at certain levels. First and foremost is frequent communication with our trainers and hearing their feedback on how the horse is training and what level/distance/surface/etc. they believe will best suit a particular horse. Along with our experienced Stable Management team we have racing managers around the country who are also present on track and in the barns to assess our runners. Our team and trainers then discuss all factors that go into the horse's management and decide on the best spots to run for optimal success. We do understand that some partners do not like competing in claiming races and we agree it's tough to not build a bond with each horse and it can be tough to see them claimed away. However, we've found over the years that placing horses in the right spots where the horse is more competitive provides more excitement for the partners (with higher placed finishes and wins) and keeps the horses happier when they've found their "friends" to compete with rather then have their confidence continually hit where they can't be competitive. Over 2/3rd's of races run in North America are claiming races so odds are most horses find themselves competing in claiming races regardless of initial expectations or purchase price. There are many good owners and trainers that depend on claiming races to operate their stables and those that have been claimed from us have mostly gone onto long and solid careers for their new connections. We also keep tabs on past runners to monitor their performance and where they are being campaigned. Hope this helps understand how we go about making some of the decisions we make and thank you for being part of the MRH program.

It is very exciting to see that Sixtythreecaliber will be knocking heads with the likes of Nest, Clairier and Secret Oath in the $500,000 Grade 1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga. She has earned the chance, and I'm so pleased that she is entered. Saratoga is my favorite track and Personal Ensign was a wonderful horse. That makes Friday even more special for me. Thanks to all involved.

MyRacehorse Hi Chuck, Thank you for the positive feedback and for sharing with us- we're so excited too! We love your passion for racing and for horses, and are thrilled that you are an owner through MyRacehorse, your support is appreciated! Best of luck!

Big mistakes

Too many injuries, delays and wins directly following claims. The big name trainers left our horses to their assistant trainers and didn't seem to follow up on basics, And the members bid the horses down to odds not worth betting. I don't need gear, I don't need a buffet, I need a horse that stays sound and wants to run.

MyRacehorse Hi Lily, We are sorry to hear you feel this way. As you can likely tell, our process is pretty regimented in looking after the safety and well-being of the horse throughout the entire process (prior to buying them, during their time in the stable, and aftercare). Unfortunately, injuries and setbacks are a routine part of the thoroughbred racing industry, no matter what stage of their career a horse is in. Statistics show that horses on average run approximately once every 30-40 days and average six starts per year. This translates into significant downtime for owners who want to see more frequent action. Like human athletes, racehorses often have ailments that require medical attention, rest, or a combination of various items. That being said, younger horses often have much more frequent setbacks than their older counterparts as they are still rapidly growing and developing. In fact, most horses that end up making a start at the races actually don't race at 2. However, studies over the years have shown training their bodies at 2 for the rigors of racing to build proper foundation and bone is essential to long-term soundness and health. Injury and setback rates are widespread across the industry. Owners outside of MyRacehorse experience the same issues on a frequent basis. For us, each horse's situation and health are thoroughly discussed as an injury/setback is discovered during the rehab process, and then when deciding whether or not to send a horse back into training for starts at the races. Horses are not sent back into training and kept racing if serious concerns about soundness remain.
