By Maclean's Music, sire of the brilliant multiple Grade 1 winner Jackie's Warrior. This colt is a classy-looking individual with an equally impressive under tack show breeze. Scheduled to compete on the New York/Florida/Kentucky racing circuits with Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.
MyRacehorse partnered with Saratoga Seven to purchase this colt for $400,000 on Day 2 of the 2021 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training.
The colt had one of the fastest quarter-mile times (20 4/5) at the under-tack show and is one of the top physical selections from our acquisition team at the sale. At the barn he was calm, cool, and collected and exhibited lots of class upon inspection.

Breeding Insights
A $900,000 yearling purchase, Maclean’s Music was retired due to injury after winning his lone start (an eye popping 114 beyer speed figure), but as a sire his winners keep coming, year after year.
Maclean’s Music is no stranger to siring graded stakes winners. In his first crop, this son of top sire Distorted Humor counted among his progeny, Preakness winner Cloud Computing.
The sire’s progeny have a flair for being precocious. His son Complexity won the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park in just his second career start and another son, Jackie’s Warrior, stamped himself as one of the top 2-year-olds of 2020, following his wins in the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga Race Course and the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes.
Maclean’s Music current star is Drain the Clock, a 3-year-old multiple stakes winner with five wins from seven starts, including this year’s Grade 3 Swale Stakes and Grade 3 Bay Shore.
Maclean’s Music stands the 2021 breeding season for $25,000 at Hill ’n’ Dale Farms in Kentucky.
This colt’s female side is deep with stakes winners and notable bloodlines. His dam, You Make Luvin Fun, is a daughter of the legendary A.P. Indy, and his extended female family features Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can, as well as Classic Elegance, a multiple graded stakes winner as a 2-year-old.
Update June 2022: Over the course of the past 6-8 months Magical Ways has been recovering from some minor bouts of bone bruising and a suspensory strain. He has been progressing well in his rehab and is now galloping consistently at Woodford Thoroughbreds with an eye on breezing around mid-summer and a return to Bill Mott’s barn towards the end of the summer.
Update July 2022: Magical Ways continues to build strong foundation at Woodford Thoroughbreds and is scheduled to ship back to trainer Bill Mott within the next 3-4 weeks to resume training with a light target of debuting at Belmont Park in the fall. The reserve account at time of offering was $130,500 and as of July 2022 was $68,793.
Update August 2022: Magical Ways has shipped to Bill Mott's Churchill Downs division in Kentucky and will begin preparing for a potential fall debut.
