Glory Daze - Wyong, Listed Wyong Cup, Race 6 @3:55pm - Barrier 1 - Tommy Berry
Glory Daze heads to Wyong this week to compete in the listed Wyong Cup over 2100m. The field of 8 oozes quality and will prove tough assignment for Glory Daze. In saying that, he is a three-time stakes placegetter and definitely has the ability to make it a fourth today. He’s had a very strong preparation having placed in all of his last four starts including a win.
Saturday
Apocalyptic - Randwick, Group 2 Furious stakes, race 6 @2:45pm - Barrier 1 - Tommy Berry
We finally get to see Apocalyptic back at the races, and what a stage for her return… the Group 2 Furious Stakes. It’s been a long wait since her thrilling second at Randwick on December 28, and while 1200m may not be her ideal trip, it’s the perfect starting point for this campaign.
This field is packed with quality three-year-olds, making it the right test to measure where she sits among her peers. Expect her to improve with distance, but this run will be a strong indicator of what’s to come this preparation.
Willydoit - Randwick, Group 2 Tramway Stakes, Race 9 @4:35pm - Barrier 15 - Tommy Berry
The New Zealand Derby winner makes his much-anticipated return after a well-earned spell. The Tramway Stakes may be well short of his ideal distance, but the stable is confident. His sharpness in trackwork suggests he can be highly competitive over 1400 metres and produce something impressive first up.
This race will be a genuine test against established Group 1 performers. We already know he has the stamina to excel over 2400 metres. The question now is whether he can also show his class over the mile and prove his versatility at the highest level.
Capulet - Morphettville race 2 @12:57pm - Barrier 7 - Will Price
Capulet lines up for her fourth run this preparation, crossing the border to Adelaide for a No Metro Wins Handicap over 1950m. She is as genuine as they come, always giving her best, and there is every reason to expect another honest performance tomorrow.
Sunday
Medieval Warrior - Bendigo race 2 @1:25pm - Barrier 12 - jamie Mott
Medieval Warrior resumes at Bendigo for his first run of the preparation. He has put in two strong trials leading into this, including a sharp effort at Cranbourne where he found the line powerfully. While this is short of his ideal trip, it looks an ideal starting point as he builds toward longer distances later in the campaign.
Odds correct as of 9:20am AEST 5th September.
