weekend preview - Exciting aus debutant

friday

Cranbourne race 1 @ 5:45pm: tochka (2) - Daniel Stackhouse

Tochka returns to the races a month after winning at Kilmore. She competes in a 5 horse field and a competitive one at that. The current favourite hasn’t been seen since the 8th of May 2024, so I question whether she needs the run first up. I like the idea of keeping Tochka fresh, and with the scratching of Biancelli, I think she’ll be able to get a relatively soft lead. Skipjack has to be respected and have good form around Tonkin and La Vie En. Tochka will have to improve in order to win, but I think that with a soft map, she could definitely be in the finish.

Bendigo Race 4 @ 1:45pm: Wonder Kid (14) - Luke cartwright

What an exciting moment! Wonder Kid makes his Australian debut after coming over from the UK and winning three races impressively. He has taken a little while to settle into Australian conditions, but over the last 3-4 weeks, he has really improved in his coat. He debuts over 1600m in Australia, which we know is well short of his preferred distance. However, we expect him to show us some signs of his true staying capabilities over the mile. It’s a very competitive race, and the Price Kent stable has the favourite who should be hard to beat. Nonetheless, I’m excited to watch and learn with him this preparation.
