Weekend Review

MRH Runners

3 runs from the weekened to stare down the barrel at – No wins from any runners but some nice progressions and a hard luck story in there.

Starmae - luckless (5th @ Randwick)

A hard-luck story to kick off the weekend’s runners. She finished 5th and was held up for clear running from the 400m to the 100m. She jumped nicely, and probably had the early speed to roll forward and lead, which would’ve been very advantageous with the way that the track played. However, Rachel King decided to take a sit on Starmae and she just wanted to overdo it a bit throughout the mid stages. The lack of clear running meant that she couldn’t run to her full potential, but still ran on well to finish 5th. She will be hard to beat up in trip at her next start off that effort.

Glory daze - continues to build (10th @ Randwick)

Despite the finishing position, he ran really well on Saturday. The tracks’ on-speed bias didn’t play into Glory Daze’s hands. However, he still showed a great fight in the last 200m and hit the line strongly, suggesting he’s ready for a further trip. Hopefully, he can get a track that is a soft 7 or worse at his next start, as that is where he truly thrives. He’s ready to run a big race, and I think he’s returned well this preparation.

Lauding - tough MV Track (6th @ The Valley)

Lauding delivered an ok first-up run at The Valley on Saturday. He settled at the rear of the field and looked to be building through his gears well before peaking on his run late. He ran the 2nd quickest 800-600 and the quickest 600-400m split of the race. The track being rated as a heavy 8 probably didn’t play into Luading’s favour, and furthermore he was only first up and usually takes a few runs before we start to see him peak. I was happy enough with the run and hope he can get conditions to suit second up with a bit further trip.
