Runaway multiple Eclipse Award honoree in 2020 for Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Male, Authentic was hands down the fastest sophomore of 2020.
Winning the $3-million G1 Kentucky Derby gate to wire in 2:00.61, Authentic’s run was the 7th fastest Derby ever. The son of Into Mischief later went on to dominate in the $6-million G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, again leading gate to wire by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:59.60, setting a new track record at Keeneland.
Authentic now stands at Spendthrift Farm alongside his sire. His first crop of yearlings averaged more than any other freshman sire in 2023, and his juveniles have fetched as much as $1 million in 2024.

There were some bumps in the road after that, but the Dan Blacker trainee made the most of his 2024 season, romping in the G2 Santa Anita Sprint Championship in September before showing a new dimension in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Under a masterful ride by Hall of Famer John Velazquez, he stalked and pounced to a half-length victory in the year-end championship even, likely solidifying Eclipse Award honors as the nation’s top sprinter.

While she endured a rough trip in the Oaks, Street Band would come back that summer to annex the G3 Indiana Oaks and then reach the highest level with a thrilling score in the G1 Cotillion at Parx. The late B. Wayne Hughes of Spendthrift was eager to campaign Monomoy Girl as a 6-year-old and to share the future Hall of Famer with the masses, like Spendthrift did with our Kentucky Derby winner Authentic. The gorgeous son of Tiznow was purchased at the Saratoga Select yearling sale in 2018. Throughout his career, “Tiz” provided MyRacehorse with incredible thrills and the opportunity to watch him run in graded stakes races from coast to coast. Tiz always showed tons of potential early on, but it took him until his sixth career start to break his maiden on New Year’s Day 2020. From there Tiz went on to win two more allowance races which set him up for a remarkable 2021.
Tiz kicked off 2021 with a win in an allowance, finished 2nd in the G3 San Pasqual S. and won the G3 Tokyo City S.–all at Santa Anita–then shipped across the country to run in the G2 Brooklyn S. on Belmont S. day. Despite rearing out of the gate, he finished a very game 2nd. The summer campaign consisted of a win in the G2 Cougar II S. and a near miss in the prestigious G1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar. .

Micro Share excited both the MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm teams during an under-tack showing in 2021 at OBS April as the daughter of Upstart posted one of the fastest quarter-mile times of the sale.
She blazed a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. That work, and the manner in which she did it, turned the heads of our acquisition team. She was our team’s favorite physical of the sale back at the barn as well.
MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm partnered on the gorgeous filly, acquiring her for $450,000 and turning her over to Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella in California. She did her best work towards the end of her racing career, becoming a stakes winner and graded stakes-placed as a 4-year-old.

Provocateur was a lot of fun for his partners with his consistent record of 3-2-1 in 9 career starts, including two stakes wins and a Grade 1 placing. Outside of his race in the Gallant Bob and his career debut on turf, he showed up every time he stepped into the starting gate.

By then freshman sire Tapiture, Vertical Threat broke his maiden in his second career start. He went on to win the Steel Valley Sprint S. and Russell Road S. in 2020.
Not only was he a terrific warrior on the racetrack, this colt had a very cool personality around the barn, which made him a favorite in trainer Richard Baltas’ shedrow. Our Racing Manager, Joe Moran, always looked forward to and enjoyed his visits with Vertical Threat, who loved to ham-up it for the camera.
“Vertical Threat was a horse that immediately made his presence known to our entire team from the moment we acquired him at OBS in 2019,” Joe said. “It was our first big sale as a team, he will always hold a special place in our hearts. He was not the horse you necessarily wanted to cuddle up next to, but he was the horse you knew was a fighter and he showed that on the track. He will certainly not be forgotten.”
