• The Autumn Insider: NEW
  •
  •
  • Your unique overview of Monday’s racing, including who to follow, ones to watch, form franks, who’s hot and of course the Monday edition of The Yarn.
  •
  • Hot off the press: Too Darn Hot is a serious sire on fire.
  •
  • Too Darn Hot had a day out on Saturday with Stakes winners and placegetters galore. It is seriously ridiculous what this stallion is throwing. On Saturday,  he sired 3 individual Group winners, including Group 2 Hobartville Stakes winner Broadsiding over 1400m, who was super impressive first up and looks to be a force to be reckoned with in big Autumn Group 1’s to come.
  •
  • Group 2 Autumn Classic winner Shanwah stopped up to Stakes grade for the first time and proved to the racing world as to why he should get opportunities at Group 1 level (interestingly Shanwah is also with the same ownership group formerly with Katsumi Orochi and Bold Strike). Group 3 Zedative Stakes winner Tropicus held off key rivals to lead all the way over 1200m and continues to improve this preparation. On top of this, Jenni the Fox and Too Darn Lizzie both finished in the placings in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes over 1400m and Arabian Summer ran a bold race to come 5th in a very competitive Group 1 Oakleigh Plate over 1100m. All of the horses mentioned have one thing in common…. Too Darn Hot.

  • Yulong Stud Dominates Saturday
  •
  • For those in the Frankel or Too Darn Hot yearlings, you would be familiar with Yulong Stud, as they have stayed in both yearlings at 25% and 50% respectively. They are a world class operation and their class was again on display Saturday. They had a number of A-grade winners, including Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner, Devil Night, and 3rd placing of Tycoon Star in the same race! Group 2 Angus Armanasco winner, Treasurethe Moment, and Listed winner Deny Knowledge both won their respective races first up. Securing 1st and 3rd in the Blue Diamond is an incredible feat. They have an eye for raising and racing talent, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them in our yearlings.
  • Katsumi Orochi – Group 1 Blue Diamond for franked
  •
  • An exciting form frank comes out of the Group 1 Blue Diamond for Katsumi Orochi, being won by Devil Night, and third placed runner Tycoon Star. Devil Night at his prior start finished 2nd in the Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts & Geldings), approx 1-2 lengths ahead of Katsumi Orochi. Katsumi Orochi’s class was backed up further with Tycoon Star, flashing home to finish 3rd in the Blue Diamond by 1.35L. Tycoon Star, a colt by Written Tycoon, has had 4 race starts and at his previous run he was seen running 4th in the Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts & Geldings), behind KATSUMI OROCHI.

  • Anthony and Sam Freedman Bolster Stakes Results
  •
  • Anthony and Sam Freedman produced a very handy training performance over the weekend, and were oh so close to securing yet another Blue Diamond win with Tentyris. As mentioned previously, Tropicus was ridden very well to score in the Group 3 Zedative Stakes over 1200m and Deny Knowledge produced a very impressive first up figure to win over 2000m in the Gold Cup, which just shows how well oiled the Freedman machine are at getting these horses up for the right races at the right time. They’re a stable that continue to place their horses with emphatic precision and get the right results.
