Apocalyptic goes down fighting

Apocalyptic - Thousand Guineas Review

What a horse she has been for the Crimson Army this spring. Across her four-start preparation, Apocalyptic delivered two Group 2 victories, a Group 1 triumph, and a narrow Group 1 placing, an extraordinary effort for her first full preparation. In her latest run, she was valiant in defeat, sticking with Ole Dancer every step of the way. For the first time in her short career, she found herself leading the field, a tactical necessity given the lack of early tempo. It may have been the deciding factor, but her determination never wavered. The winner enjoyed a softer run on her back and had the final say, but Apocalyptic once again showed her class and courage. We cannot wait to see her return in the autumn, where she’ll look to add more stakes wins to her growing resume.

Engine Of War - Caulfield Classic Review

Engine of War jumped cleanly and used his early speed to take up a forward position in a race devoid of tempo. The field dawdled through the early stages, setting up what looked to be a leader’s race, but once the pressure came on at the 600 metres, he found himself caught flat-footed and unable to build through his gears. Despite the result, it was an invaluable learning experience for the gelding. Post-race, Mick Price noted that he’ll be ridden off the pace next start, with blinkers likely added for the first time. Back to Flemington for the VRC Derby; a big, open track that will allow him to wind up and find his rhythm… looks perfect. The team remains confident that he can deliver another Group 1 moment for the MyRacehorse family this spring.

Pedigree watch

Newy: Flying Artie has produced another stakes winner, with son My Wish taking out the Group 2 Sha Tin Trophy (cape by Flying Artie) in Hong Kong. With a daughter of Flying Artie, Asfoora, recently claiming a Group 1 at Longchamp, the sire line is clearly firing. We’re excited to see Newy, our own prospect by Flying Artie, develop in the coming weeks as he eyes a return to the races.

Transcend: So You Think has sired another stakes winner in Diamond Scene, who recently won the Eurythmic Stakes at Ascot. With the sire showing strong staying ability and class, the timing couldn’t be better for our filly Transcend (by So You Think) who has just arrived in Australia and is hitting the ground running.

Glory Daze: The sire of Glory Daze, Cotai Glory recently celebrated Group 1 success at Royal Ascot with Powerful Glory defeating Lazzat (who was last year’s Golden Eagle runner-up). With that kind of elite performance, we’re eager to see Glory Daze return to competing in stakes-class races.

Prince Kirk: Ole Kirk has reached a milestone with his first Group 1 winner, Ole Dancer, taking out the Thousand Guineas. With such early success from his progeny, we’re watching our yearling by Ole Kirk with genuine anticipation.

Pacifico: For the third consecutive weekend, The Autumn Sun has produced a stakes winner with Autumn Mystery claiming the Group 3 Caulfield Classic on Saturday. It’s a perfect sign for Pacifico, our filly by The Autumn Sun, currently in pre-training and who only has 400 shares left.

Platinum Pearl: A grey Frankel gelding out of a Dark Angel mare (same cross as our Platinum Pearl), Bedtime Story ran fourth in an open-age Group 1 at the British Championships as a three-year-old. We’re watching Platinum Pearl, with positive expectations following this form from the talented filly to an identical cross.
