Bjorn’s ‘Tried Horse’ Recipe Strikes Again

Bjorn’s ‘Tried Horse’ Recipe Strikes Again

  • Bjorn Baker continues to prove his dominance this season, especially with his ability to rejuvenate tried horses and get them performing at stakes class. On Saturday at Doomben, Caballus, a 4yo gelding by I Am Invincible, secured a victory in the Listed Ostrensia Stakes over 1100m at Scone. Caballus was a horse purchased in the Inglis Online sale and was sent to Bjorn following that. This buying strategy was similarly used for our very own Mawjood, who was recently acquired in the Inglis online sale. We couldn’t be in better hands with Bjorn, and hopefully he can turn our city winner into a stakes class horse.

Sir Delius Adds Another Australian Stakes Winner for Frankel

  • Saturday’s feature meeting at Doomben unveiled a potential star import by Frankel. Sir Delius had his first Australian start following an 8th placing in an Arc De Triomphe, and he seriously impressed with a 1.32L victory in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap over 2000m. Sir Delius was a $2.8 million purchase in the Autumn Horses in Training Sale, and looks to be a serious contender for the big Spring staying features later this year. The Frankel progeny continues to have an impact, especially once they mature and develop, and hopefully our Frankel x Of Good Cheer filly can do the same!

Apocalyptic’s Form Stacks Up

Saturday’s Group 2 Spirit of Boom Classic over 1200m saw the return of Gallo Nero, a colt by Wootton Bassett, who was placed in a 2yo MM classic back in January, and beat our very own, Apocalyptic, back in December. Gallo Nero finished 2nd on Saturday, narrowly beaten by Cool Archie, but it’s great to see him return in good order and frank Apocalyptic’s form from the summer

ATC Derby Form Continues To Frank!

The Group 3 Rough Habit Plate over 2000m on Saturday saw Imperialist cause a boilover, winning by 1.37L to a number of promising 3yo stayers. Casting your mind back to April, Imperialist finished 15th in the ATC Derby, a mere 8.74L behind MyRacehorse favourite, Willydoit. It’s very encouraging to see the ATC Derby form continue to stand up into the Queensland carnival. King of Thunder also finished 3rd in that race, who also finished 0.35L behind Willydoit in the Derby
