The 3YO filly by The Autumn Sun stepped out at Cranbourne on the 3rd of February for her third and final trial before resuming at the sports.
Circle back to April 2024, Sneaky Sunrise debuted at Ballarat finishing an unlucky second behind Godolphin runner, Snack Bar. Two starts later at Flemington on the 18th of May over 1400m, Sneaky would have the final say on the rivalry with a convincing 1.5L victory over Snack Bar (3rd). Her final two runs in her debut preparation would be another victory over 1400m defeating Pisces and an enormous second in the Listed Taj Rossi, falling just short of Jenni’s Meadow.
While Sneaky Sunrise would miss the 2024 Spring Carnival due to a lingering virus, the form through her debut winter preparation, had significant form franks. Snack Bar, was twice Group-placed at Rosehill. Pisces, a dominant winner of the Group 3 Blue Sapphire, and second in the Group 3 Red Anchorage Steaks, and Jenni’s Meadow a close second in the Group 3 Ethereal.
As we look toward the Autumn Carnival, it’s now time for the racing world to be graced with Sneaky Sunrise’s presence once again. Sneaky well and truly showed us that she has returned with a zest for competition in her Flemington jump out on the 24th of January, where she led up and won a sharp trial field featuring stakes winner, CERTAIN RISE, in second place. This morning (3/2) in her final tune up trial, a tune up is exactly what she did, running a comfortable second to highly rated, Thousand Guineas Prelude runner – Exuberance.
“She trialled really well, she stepped well. She has an amazing turn of foot, she had a strong gallop and had a really good blow which will bring her on for next week.” – rider Dan Stackhouse said of Sneaky Sunrise after her trial.
Sneaky Sunrise will now push on to the Listed Desirable Stakes over 1400m for 3YO fillies, at Flemington on Saturday the 15th of February worth $175,000. A perfect kick off point for the exciting filly, who will look to get herself back in the winner’s stall. Not only will a win, do amazing things for her confidence, but it will also add some highly valuable black-type to her CV as a regally bred filly, being by a top stallion out of a So You Think mare.
While no further Autumn Carnival plans have been locked and loaded for Sneaky Sunrise, we will be watching her at Flemington with great anticipation as we believe the Autumn is hers for the taking.
Look to the east – a sneaky sun is rising.
