Royal ascot day 3 tips!
- Tom Spencer
Our staff members have been actively sifting through UK form all month because of Lightening Mann. In doing so, we have stumbled across some tips to provide our owners for the carnival. Today’s the day Lightening Mann runs, but let’s find some more nuggets of gold for Day 3
Don’t forget to head to Dabble to see any and all Royal Ascot tips throughout the carnival!
Race 6 - Hampton court stakes - 2004m
#3 detain - Colin keane - barrier 5
Racing in the famous Aga Khan colours, this Wootton Bassett colt seems to really have improved this prep. His third in the French Derby last start bodes well for this race as the class drops here, and the rise in distance also instills confidence. The firmer surface is another plus, and with the only real danger drawn next to him in Trinity College, I’m betting that the French Derby form is the premier form and that Trinity College hasn’t got enough to turn the tables.
Race 4 - gold cup - 4014m
#8 illinois - ryan moore - barrier 1
Aidan O’Brien’s rising stayer steps up to the Gold Cup after claiming last year’s Queen’s Vase and a notable Group 1 win in France. Ryan Moore takes the saddle, aiming to add to his outstanding Royal Ascot tally. The horse boasts class, stamina, and multiple overseas wins—all pointing to a peak performance tonight. The move up in trip is spot on—he’s bred for stamina, and this upper distance should suit him perfectly. His high cruising speed could prove pivotal in these deep-field staying conditions. O’Brien and Moore haven’t missed often in this race.
