Royal ascot day 1 tips!
- Tom Spencer
Our staff members have been actively sifting through UK form all month because of Lightening Mann. In doing so, we have stumbled across some tips to provide our owners for the carnival. Let’s start with Day 1!
Don’t forget to head to Dabble to see any and all Royal Ascot tips throughout the carnival!
Race 3 - King Charles iii stakes
#14 believing - ryan moore - barrier 1
Day 1 of Royal Ascot! It’s hard to tip against the Aussie reigning Champ, Asfoora, but Believing’s 2nd behind a horse called Bradsell is the best form in this race. Bradsell won 3 G1s before retiring to stud and was a star of the northern hemisphere sprinting ranks. She might be in her best form to date, winning a G1 in Meydan last start. As good as Asfoora is, back the local form here.
Race 1 - queen anne stakes
#2 carl spackler - james mcdonald - barrier 8
Siding with the MyRacehorse trainer, Ciaron Maher here. I’m hoping that he can start the Royal Ascot carnival off with a bang in the Queen Anne Stakes, a straight race over a mile. Carl Spackler makes his way across the globe from the US to tackle this race, potentially on his way to Australia following that. He’s a 3-time Group 1 (or Grade 1 as the USA folk refer to it) winner, including his last start, where he was successful at Keeneland in the Maker’s Mark Mile by 1.5L. That’s good enough form for me.
