Worth The Ride

While we had several horses prior, SixtyThreeCaliber & Frosted Oats were the first two horses we had shares of that made the whole experience worthwhile. Living in NC, we have to travel in order to enjoy racing as almost every aspect of horse racing is illegal in our state. We travel frequently to Saratoga, Keeneland, Churchill, Colonial, and Fairgrounds. Buying small shares has made our trips even more enjoyable. Also, having "our horses" has made battling cancer more tolerable because it has provided an outlet. Now being cancer free & getting quite the thrill riding along with Seismic Beauty last Fall, we have decided to take a larger step in the coming year & plan to attend the Keeneland sales this Fall. Thanks to MyRaceHorse for giving us the insight to better enjoy a sport we have followed & researched for over 50 years.

Keep up the good work

While I am a small owner/breeder and have my own horses in play, I own with MyRaceHorse because I want to be supportive to the concept. I believe MyRaceHorse has done an excellent job to provide a gateway to race horse ownership. They have done exemplary work in communication and education to new race fans. While my participate is indeed a micro share, I plan to re-invest any payouts into a future share as a commitment to their efforts. Race on!

I bought into 5 horses. I didn't expect to get rich, but my experience has been less than exciting or profitable. Two of the five have been sold returning pennies on the dollar, and a third has gone to the breeding shed and will soon be sold. I couldn't have done worse by gambling away my money by betting on horses.

A good thing to note is MyRacehorse’s one-time payment structure ensures that shareholders incur no additional out-of-pocket expenses for your horse’s ongoing care and the management of the series. The reserve account is funded with a portion of the money collected from the initial offering and purse earnings when necessary to replenish the reserve. This means you know exactly what your costs are at the time of purchase, which is a significant difference from traditional ownership, where the initial purchase price is often far less than the ongoing costs required to keep a horse healthy and in training.

Owning horses from My Racehorse is for the experience, do not think you will make any money. They have every angle covered (acquisition cost, management fee, legal, significant reserves, etc.). Some races you'll only get $2-3 if your horse wins. When horses are retired, you get a lump sum but no detailed accounting of where all the money went. The lump sum for the NY Bred Bundle seems very low considering the reserves. I think the Broodmare Bands are the best way to go. My Racehorse does a great job communicating horse staus, race information, etc., just not much on the Financials when horses are claimed, sold, retired.

I participated for several years and bought into several horses. While it was fun watching them race, there wa no money made. Essentially all I invested was lost. It was fun, but very disappointing.

MyRacehorse We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the experience of following your horses, and we also understand how disappointing it can be when the financial outcome doesn’t match what you hoped for. That said, Thoroughbred racing is inherently unpredictable and while you can earn money we do feel that to get the most out of ownership we emphasize that this is very experience based. The cost of one share in most cases is similar to pricing for concerts, MLB games, a nice dinner, a day on the ski slopes, etc. However, with MRH, your experience lasts far beyond one day/night. We work really hard to provide the best ownership experience possible! We appreciate you being part of MyRacehorse for several years, and thank you for your support and perspective.

What an amazing adventure I bought my first horse, Authentic, in 2020 and he won the Kentucky Derby that year. I was able to go to Kentucky and visit him and a few other Horse Farms. I get a great pleasure owning these Race Horses.

I love MRH!!

My husband passed in 2013. He had ALS and knew how much I enjoyed horse racing. We would go to the races together until he could no longer travel. He encouraged me to purchase some horses through MRH so about a year after he passed I purchased my first 3 horse microshares. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. The MRH experiences have pulled me out of my sadness and depression after losing my husband and best friend and companion! I have enjoyed every moment of my time in MRH and have made so many new friends who are just as horse crazy as I am. And it's so affordable! You can spend as much or as little as you like. What a wonderful organization!

I first invested in Simply Enchanting, and 4 more soon after. I knew it was a gamble, but one of my bigger gambles. I never expected to get rich or even get my full investment back, but I am seriously disappointed in almost everything since getting involved. I doubt that I will be investing anymore, and return to losing my money picking losers on the track.

As you know by now, this is an extremely humbling industry where many well-bred, expensive, and well-thought-of horses don't make it or perform to expectations. Unlike most sporting industries, you're at the top of the game if you win once every 4-5 races! Thoroughbred racing is inherently unpredictable, it is possible to make a profit, however, not every horse is profitable. Because of this, we really cherish the big wins and emphasize that MyRacehorse is very experience based. We work really hard to provide the best ownership experience possible!
