I love My Racehorse

You have given me such a wonderful and exciting pastime to look forward to during the three years of covid. I have loved horses since the days of Roy Rogers and his palomino Trigger on through horse racing, especially the KY Derby, the Virginian and riding at my uncle’s horse farm near Fulton, MO. I have always wanted my own horse but My Racehorse is the BBQ next best thing!

MyRacehorse Hi Judy, So great to hear you're enjoying the MRH ownership experience! Please let us know if there's anything else you'd like to see. We're always discussing and working on new ways to enhance the owner experience. Take care.

Love MRH!

I am thoroughly enjoying MRH. Love the frequent updates and watching the horses train/race. I was able to attend the event at OBS recently and had a great time. I was fully aware that this is not a money making opportunity and I didn't buy in to make money. IMO 1 or 2 shares of a MRH horse is for entertainment value only, and I have been well entertained. Keep up the good work and pay no mind to the complainers and naysayers.

MyRacehorse Hi Shelly, So glad to hear you're enjoying your ownership experience with us in general and that you were able to join us in Ocala. We had a blast too! You're correct that most horses won't make money (a tough but real industry fact) and that owner updates, chats, etc. on your horse, race day/other events, camaraderie amongst fellow owners are a very big part of a fun and rewarding ownership experience and journey. However, while it is difficult to make money, we don't want to discount that it's still possible! Last fall our two time Grade 1 winner and Breeders' Cup participant Going to Vegas sold for $1.5 million and returned a 54 percent profit to her partners. Back in 2020 we also sold another one of our Grade 1 winning fillies, Street Band, for $1 million. And of course our Kentucky Derby winner Authentic should be profitable to his owners in the coming years. So while not to always be expected, we do have a track record at producing these types of positive returns and experiences for our partners.

Fun but Frustrated

I have to vent some frustation. Let me start by saying that I'm grateful to MRH for offering ordinary people the chance to fulfill the dream of owning a racehorse. In my year and a half as an owner I have become acutely aware of the tremendous effort it takes to get a horse on the track. There are so many stumbles along the way. My horses have stumbled quite a bit and I can't help but get discouraged. I own 14 horses and only one has run more two races. Four of my horses have been retired and another six are injured. I am fully aware that this is the norm when training thoroughbreds, but it is such a disappointment to open my MRH updates and see another one of my horses is having problems. I am sad and concerned for the horse's well-being, and of course I want the trainers to take all the time needed to bring the horse back to health... but just once I would like to open the app and see good news. My message to prospective owners is this: Don't expect too much. For every Authentic or Tizamagician there are hundreds of Night Combats. With that being said, there is nothing better than seeing your baby trotting in the post parade. Regardless of a win or 12th place, you still saw YOUR baby run.

MyRacehorse Rebecca, Thanks so much for your honest review. We agree that horse racing is tough, can get you down at times, and your stable is certainly going through a bit of a rough patch. But... it can also be one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences ever. We hope you'd agree that early on in your journey with us that campaigning all time greats Monomoy Girl and Got Stormy was an amazing experience, especially when Got Stormy beat the boys in the Grade 1 Fourstardave! While all horse owners (and we are included) would love an easy and healthy journey for every horse, it unfortunately doesn't unfold that way for most horses, there will inevitably be setbacks. It's certainly tough to deal with but often predictable (like some of your horses are young 2 year old's who are still developing and usually for one reason or another have a setback before they eventually debut at the races). Sometimes though they can be some of the best stories in racing, the ultimate comeback kid/patience story so to speak. We have a prime example of that in the MRH stable. Kanthari, a $575k two-year old purchase with high promise had a number of setbacks early on in his training and ultimately took 21 months to get to his first race, which he won in thrilling fashion! He then came back and did it again in his next race and is now 2 for 2 and heading to the prestigious Keeneland meet next month. Of course, not every horse has a great comeback story but we'd encourage you to enjoy the experiences (not always on the track) as much as possible and we hope that your luck turns around sooner than later.

Learn what you are getting when you buy Micro Shares.

First of all I love the MRH format, I have learned valuable lessons over the past two years. I sometimes read a review of a disappointed owner and only feel for them that they did not know what MRH was offering and through their ignorance of the product call names and otherwise complain. Somehow these individuals thought there is no cost to running these brilliant athletes. Horse are very delicate animals and it is unusual for them to not have setbacks, ie Rosie Alibi and Balletic. And even when everything is going good the racing luck can prevent you from winning a purse. So my advice to those who complain is to step back and evaluate your goals in buying micro shares.

MyRacehorse Hi Alfred, Thank you for your review and support of MRH. You are 100 percent spot on that horses are delicate and at one point or another (and likely more) they'll end up needing some time off from training. Of course, that's not always a bad thing. Like any athlete, proper rest and being at peak fitness is paramount. Horse ownership is a steep learning curve filled with many ups and downs, but in our opinion you can't beat the highs. Regardless of how a particular horse does we're always working to improve our owners experiences and education pertaining to the industry. We hope in time that those that are disappointed are willing to look into the available resources to improve their understanding of the business and continue to enjoy it in one form or another!

So, here's what it really is. When you purchase micro shares you become a owner. Hah. They dont tell you that if your horse is off a while that when he or she wins a race, usually there is no money to pay the "owners"

MyRacehorse Hi Dave, Sorry to hear about your disappointment in the program. The one time out of pocket payment program for owners which MRH operates under has been widely appreciated by the majority of our owners. The economics of racing are extremely difficult. On average it costs between $50-60k per year to keep a horse in training, insured, etc. Most often horse's won't earn enough purse money on the track to pay their bills. That's where the benefits of our program and structure kick in. Our offerings generally include two years of training and care costs to pay for those initial months and years of projected expenses. As that account naturally depletes over time we do start utilizing race day earnings to ensure there is enough money in the account to continue caring for and racing the horse. There are a few important items to point out. First, any money that isn't used in the account always gets distributed back out to the owners when the horse's career is over. Second, unlike most other partnerships there are no additional payments due after your initial purchase. In other ownership setups owners will continually pay out of pocket for their portion of training and care costs. So under our program if a horse can't earn enough purse money on the track and its decided by the company to continue racing, the company is on the hook for any negative balance. We feel like that's a win-win for our owners.

Love the Experience

My husband bought me a gift card to MRH for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I have been enjoying it ever since. I currently have six horses in my stable, and truly enjoy watching their progress and betting on them. We also went to the owner’s experience in Ocala in January, and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend MRH to anyone who enjoys horse racing.

MyRacehorse Hi Kelly, Thanks for sharing your experience and for your support of the MRH program. Hope to see you out at the track soon!

So much fun!

There's a lot of online chatter about what a rip off My Racehorse is. I couldn't disagree more! The entertainment value and learning about what it takes to get a 2 year old to the track is well worth the cost. My Racehorse does an excellent job with all the updates, trainer /jockey interviews, and race day events. The actual races are just icing on the cake for me. Wife and I made some great memories going to Saratoga for Rosie's Alibi"s debut, and the thrill of seeing her win at Parx is something we'll never forget! No, you're not going to make any money, but if you love horses and horse racing My Racehorse is a must!

MyRacehorse Hi Robert, Thanks for your kind words. Our team had a great time alongside you at Saratoga for Rosie's Alibi last summer. Knowing that the realities of racing bring us more setbacks and frustrations than we'd care for we consistently strive to provide our owners with the best experience through the app content (updates, videos, educational moments) and at the track on race days as possible. While you're correct that most horses will not turn a profit (a tough but real industry fact) it certainly is possible. Last fall our two time Grade 1 winner and Breeders' Cup participant Going to Vegas sold for $1.5 million and returned a 54 percent profit to her partners. Back in 2020 we also sold another one of our Grade 1 winning fillies, Street Band, for $1 million. Great Time in Ocala

My wife Rica and I had a wonderful time at the Ocala Two Year Old Showcase. We attended last year's event and we noticed some enhancements for this year such as the impromptu gift shop with Myracehorse items, complimentary photos of MRH 2-year-olds and best of all, the "up close and personal" time with the horses at their stalls. We were able to take good photos of our horses, Secret Crush and Seize the Grey. It was delightful watching Crush trying to figure out what to do with the carrot. We had opportunities to talk to Kieran and the two Joes (Moran and Mishak), Then to top it all, we had a Watch Party to cheer Balletic on to her maiden victory! Everything was PERFECT... except perhaps for the hosts not having a working microphone.... :)

MyRacehorse Hi Jamie, So great to hear about your OBS Showcase experience. It's a highlight of the year and enjoyed by all partners and staff alike. Hope to see you guys at the track soon!

Ocala 2 yr-old Showcase 2023

We visited the OBS grounds in Ocala to spend the day with the MyRacehorse 2 yr olds in training and their owners. Showcase day was an incredible experience from start to finish. The staff, facilities and horses didn't disappoint! Everything was well organized, flowed nicely and was delightful right down to the box lunch. We were thrilled to be able to meet all the showcase horses up close in their stalls after viewing their morning workout. My wife even had her hair tasted by our filly (Lady Blitz) while we were petting and taking pictures with her. The barn visit was amazing and the staff engaged all questions and made us feel like millionaires. Thanks to all who made this day and future events possible, right down to the hot-walkers and beyond. MyRacehorse is a very classy operation and I highly recommend getting involved.

MyRacehorse Hi Rob, So amazing to hear that you and your wife had a great time at the OBS Showcase. It's a great event for all involved and there's nothing like getting to see your horse's up close and in person. Hope to see you out at the track soon!
