In the build up to the 2025 Randwick Guineas, the team at MyRacehorse like to reflect on what has happened in the years gone by. We have gone and rewinded the tape all the way back to 2019 where you still need to watch it to believe it!
Following one of the most emphatic Caulfield Guineas wins in modern times, where The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice) toyed with his rivals beating them by 4.5 lengths, all eyes turned to what he could do in the autumn of 2019. After winning the Hobartville (G2) first up, The Autumn Sun went into the 2019 edition of Group 1 Randwick Guineas a near unbeatable favourite at $1.80.
The field was out to beat a generational talent, and after being approximately 10 lengths off the leader at the 400m and set a near impossible task, he managed to reel in his rivals one by one to record a famous win in the last stride.
Following the race he went on to win his 5th and final Group 1 in the Rosehill Guineas before being retired to stand at Arrowfield Stud. The Autumn Sun has thrown quality Group One horses as well as MyRacehorse favourite Sneaky Sunrise as she heads into the Group 2 Kewney this weekend at Flemington as a live chance. We will be watching the Randwick Guineas this weekend with keen interest!
The next generation
We are also thrilled to welcome the next generation of The Autumn Sun to the team, our filly out of Islands, by The Autumn Sun has already finished her education and is having a much deserved spell.
A quality filly with an elite pedigree, she’s by five-time Group 1 winner The Autumn Sun, the sire of top-class fillies like Autumn Angel, Coco Sun, and Vibrant Sun—not to mention stakes performer Sneaky Sunrise. She’s out of an I Am Invincible mare who is a half-sister to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Military Rose and closely related to Breeders’ Plate winner Espionage.
