MyRacehorse June Runners - by the numbers

What an exciting month we had in June, notching up 5 winners and a top 3 strike rate of 40% from 30 starts. The highlight of the month was seeing the progression in some of our horses like High Tempo and Sapphire Rose, who both notched up their maiden wins.

June WINNERS

2 June: Charcoals

Charcoals proved to be too good for rivals at Pakenham synthetic on this occasion. He was perfectly ridden by Jamie Mott, stalking the speed and then pouncing as soon as he got clear running. He finished with a 1 length win, but it argubaly could’ve been further if he was fully extended.

8 June: sapphire rose

This was a very smart debut by the daughter of Blue Point. She bounced out of the gates and went straight to the front against the older horses, before holding on to score impressively. The horse that finished 2nd to her, Golden Straand, then went on to win at Gosford by almost 4 lengths. Sapphire Rose subsequently finished 2nd in a metro mid-week race following this, and looks an exciting horse for the future with Bjorn.

18 june: Nana's wish

After a 460-day drought in the winners’ stall, Nana’s Wish finally broke through and won a BM72 at Canterbury. She got conditions to suit on this occasion (soft 7) and still did it tough. She hit her trademark flat spot at the top of the straight, but found another gear to fight back and win by half a length. She has had some very encouraging runs this preparation, and hopefully she can strike again in July.

21 June: High tempo

After 2 of the most unlucky 2nds you will witness on a racetrack, High Tempo finally got clear air to win her maiden at Donald by 2.75 lengths, proving that she was a class above the rest. She has had a very successful preparation thus far, and there are more wins where that came from. She loved the heavy conditions out at Donald, and is expected to keep improving with more rises in distance.

23 June: charcoals

Charcoals struck again at Pakenham on the synthetic, making it back-to-back wins. This time, he was up to BM70 grade and hit the front a long way from home. However, he proved too strong for rivals in the end, winning narrowly. He is now ready to head back to mid-week metro grade, which is where he belongs.

july crystal ball

Plenty of excitement heading into the winter months, with the much anticipated debuts of Volkano and Ninja, who have both been very impressive at the trials to date. We will expect to see Bear On The Loose attempt to win a stakes race over 2400m at Sunshine Coast, as well as another honest effort from Glory Daze as he edges closer to a stakes win. But arguably our most exciting form of horse racing this month is at the trials, with the expectation that one-time Golden Slipper favourite, Apocalyptic, recent Inglis Digital bargain, Mawjood, the super consistent, The Enchanter, and the import on the rise, Bur Dubai, will start to hone in on race returns with trials throughout the month.
