  • Exuma

  •
  • Exuma is racing this afternoon at 5:30pm (AEDT) in a BM58 handicap over 1000m at Werribee, Race 8. Steph Hately is booked to ride Exuma, and with her 3kg claim, he will be carrying an enticing 57kgs.

  •
  • After watching Exuma’s dominant trial win last week, he looks ready to race and is in as good of a condition a horse can be in for a first-up assignment. Jumping from barrier 2 is ideal for Exuma, who will likely push forward from the barriers. The favourite, Regina D’Italia has had two promising starts, and jumping from barrier 1 will allow her to go straight to the lead and control the race as she likes to do. Damian Lane on Regina D’Italia also almost guarantees that she will have a peach of a ride. If Exuma is able to jump cleanly and sit on the bum of the favourite, we will have a good race on our hands.

  •
  • Acapella Moon is a mare in good form, placing in her last 3 starts. Dropping back to the 1000m might suit this mare as it will allow her to display her dominant turn of foot before tiring. The quinella looks like a move in this race, taking the 3, 4 & 8. Taking Exuma for a win is also a good betting strategy if the track is playing fairly throughout the previous 7 races.

  • The Enchanter

  •
  • The Enchanter takes his place in the Drinkwise Maiden plate, Race 2, tonight at Canterbury at 6:30pm. If not for his luckless barrier draw, I would say that The Enchanter is a moral. Drawing barrier 7 just places a little bit of doubt in my mind, however, the 1250m at Canterbury will provide The Enchanter with a long 450m back straight to get into position. Given the 2 & 6 will both be working to the front, The Enchanter may have his work cut out for him, but if he is able to waltz to form the first pairing before the bend and relax, we suspect he’d be hard to beat.
  •
  • The Enchanter will once again come up against Signor Tortoni who had his measure (just) last start. The regally bred 3YO by Too Darn Hot is a half-brother to stakes winner, Cherry Tortoni. He has drawn well and will look to control the tempo. With the addition of Visors for The Enchanter, we expect this will improve his race craft and remain switched on in running.
  •
  • The form coming out of The Enchanter’s maidens continue to frank his form – Point & Shoot a convincing 5 length winner on Saturday at Randwick in a BM72, with more winners also coming through his maiden at Nowra.
  •
  • He is definitely worth having a bet on as a single for a win @$2.70, and given there is no 3rd dividend, his place price of $1.65 looks very enticing for an anchor leg for your weekend multi’s.
