MyRacehorse February Runners

A very lean month of winners after a very eventful March. There’s still plenty to look forward to as the racing world sets their eyes towards the QLD carnival.

Track Triumphs

Anaballistic provides MRH with their first Wild West Winner!

Our sole winner for the month was over in the wild west, with Anaballistic saluting on Good Friday over 1000m in a Class 1. She was super on this day and showed an incredible turn of foot to get herself over the line. She showed us in her last preparation that when ridden a bit quieter, she can have a great change of pace, and it was great to see Clint Johnston-Porter deliver on that. She is in for a fruitful preparation.

Hard Luck Heroes

Willydoit ATC Derby Adventure - 4th

Whilst I’m not suggesting he “should’ve” won the ATC Derby, I’m claiming that he was unlucky not to run 2nd. He was given a very tough run, basically running in a 3 and 4 wide line for the entirety of the event. This race, coupled with having to travel for the first time and being very far along in the prep all made significant impacts on Willydoit. Aeliana rated very highly in the race, in fact, it was the highest rated Derby win since 2016, showing how super that horse has gone. Willydoit lost no admirers from this run and is certainly in for an exciting spring.

Sneaky Sunrise Wide Mornington Guineas - 4th

This was very similar to Willydoit in that I don’t think she could’ve won with a better run, but definitely could’ve finished 2nd. She was dealt a tough hand drawing a wide barrier at Mornington. The stable decided to ‘take the game on’ and get her to be more forward in the run, as Mornington can be very on pace at times. Unfortunately in doing that, she was caught 3-4 wide without cover for the trip, which resulted in her beginning to tire late. If she were to have gotten a slightly more economical run in transit, she definitely could’ve finished closer to Movin’ Out.

Crystal Ball

Hopefully we will see a bit more luck on the track this month. There are a number of exciting horses that are stepping out for the first time in our colours, such as Bold Strike, Sapphire Rose, Moon Jewel and Diversity. Hopefully Anaballistic can continue her winning ways and we can roll that momentum into other potential May starters like Charming Nic, Wonder Kid and Bear On The Loose.
