Philip D’Amato has established himself as one of the premier turf trainers in North America, building a powerhouse operation in Southern California known for its precision, versatility, and international reach. He began his career in Kentucky before returning home to California, where he spent a decade under the mentorship of the late Mike Mitchell. In 2014, D’Amato took over the stable and immediately emerged as a force on the circuit.
He wasted no time making an impact, surpassing 80 wins in his first season on his own and securing Grade 1 victories with Obviously and Street Fancy. D’Amato earned his first Breeders’ Cup win in 2016 when Obviously captured the Turf Sprint, and has since developed a deep roster of elite performers including Midnight Storm, Bowies Hero, Going Global, Count Again, Gold Phoenix, and Ransom the Moon.
In 2024, D’Amato added another marquee victory to his résumé when Stronghold captured the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, further cementing his status as one of the top conditioners on the West Coast. That momentum has carried into 2025, where his barn continues to be a dominant presence in graded stakes company, particularly on turf.
Widely regarded for his Midas touch with turf horses–especially European imports–D’Amato has also built a reputation as one of the savviest operators at the claim box, consistently transforming overlooked runners into stakes-caliber performers.

Born in England, Tom Morley comes from a family deeply rooted in Thoroughbred racing, including a father involved in ownership and breeding and an uncle who trained at the Group 1 level. He is a graduate of the prestigious Darley Flying Start program, which provided a global foundation in racing through hands-on experience across major international operations.
Morley further developed his craft working with leading horsemen including Ed Dunlop, Jeremy Noseda, and Eddie Kenneally before establishing his own stable in New York in 2013. Since then, he has built a respected presence on the NYRA circuit, known for his attention to detail, horsemanship, and ability to develop competitive runners across a variety of conditions.
Among his top performers are Grade 1 winners Haveyougoneaway, who captured the Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga; and Carrick, winner of the Secretariat Stakes. His program has consistently produced hard-knocking, versatile horses capable of competing at a high level.
In 2024 and 2025, Morley has continued to build momentum within the New York circuit, with steady success in stakes company and a growing profile among owners seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented training operation. His stable continues to reflect a balance of developing young talent and maximizing the performance of established runners.
Morley is married to NYRA television analyst and reporter Maggie Wolfendale, who plays an active role in the barn. Together, they are raising their young family alongside a thriving racing operation.
Wesley Ward has established himself as one of the most innovative and internationally successful trainers in modern racing, particularly known for his dominance with precocious 2-year-olds and his trailblazing success on the global stage. The son of trainer Dennis Ward and grandson of New York outrider Jim Dailey, Ward was born into the sport and went on to earn an Eclipse Award as outstanding apprentice jockey in 1984 before transitioning to training in 1991.
Ward quickly found success as a trainer, earning his first stakes victory in 1994, but it was his international ambition that set him apart. In 2009, he made history by becoming the first American trainer to win at Royal Ascot, capturing the Norfolk Stakes. That breakthrough moment helped redefine the global reach of U.S.-based trainers and established Ward as a perennial force at one of racing’s most prestigious meetings.
He has since become synonymous with Royal Ascot success, regularly shipping top juveniles overseas to compete–and win–against the best in Europe. His ability to develop early speed and professionalism in young horses has made his barn one of the most feared in international sprint racing.
Ward has also enjoyed significant success on racing’s biggest domestic stages, including multiple Breeders’ Cup victories highlighted by standouts such as Judy the Beauty, Four Wheel Drive, Golden Pal, and Twilight Gleaming. His runners have consistently excelled in turf sprint divisions and juvenile races, often competing at the highest level both domestically and abroad.
In 2024 and 2025, Ward continued to reinforce his reputation as the premier trainer of elite juveniles and turf sprinters, once again fielding strong contingents at Royal Ascot and maintaining a consistent presence in graded stakes company in the United States. His Keeneland dominance has remained a hallmark of his program, where he continues to unveil some of the fastest and most precocious young horses each season.

A son of a renowned horse trainer in France, Christophe Clement has been a fierce competitor in North American racing since he began training on U.S. soil in 1991.
Born in Paris and a married father of two, Clement apprenticed under the legendary Luca Cumani in Europe before going to work for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey in the U.S. Clement’s ascension to elite trainer was a rapid one. After taking out his trainer’s license in 1991 in New York, he quickly established himself as a top conditioner of high-level turf runners. But in the ensuing years, Clement proved his prowess also extended beyond the grass. Among his Grade 1 winners on the dirt are 2014 Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist; and Funny Moon, winner of the 2009 Coaching Club American Oaks. Among the bevy of Grade 1 winners trained by Clement, who has saddled the winners of more than 200 graded races, is Gio Ponti, a three-time Eclipse Award champion who earned $6 million during his racing career.
Clement won his first Breeders’ Cup race in 2021 with Pizza Bianca, owned by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Clement trainees amassed more than $184 million and he sent out 13,270 career starts before his passing in 2025. MyRacehorse is incredibly grateful for the time and experience he gave to our stable.
Legendary Hall of Famer and pioneer D. Wayne Lukas was a former champion Quarter Horse trainer who took the Thoroughbred industry by storm in the 80s and shaped much of the modern game through his training strategies, business sense and via the many other future top trainers who came up in his program.
He conditioned four Kentucky Derby winners and Belmont winners, and seven winners of the Preakness—including MyRacehorse’s own Seize the Grey when he became the oldest trainer to win a Triple Crown race in 2024. He also owned 20 Breeders’ Cup victories, tied for most all time through 2024. Lukas trainees amassed more than $300.5 million and he sent out 4,953 career winners before his passing in 2024 at the age of 89.
Lukas, nicknamed “The Coach” for his past life as a basketball coach and his willingness to mentor young people, was always extremely gracious with his time and the MyRacehorse community. We will cherish the opportunity we had to work with such a larger-than-life personality
