Micro Share excited both the MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm teams during an under-tack showing in 2021 at OBS April as the daughter of Upstart posted one of the fastest quarter-mile times of the sale.
She blazed a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. That work, and the manner in which she did it, turned the heads of our acquisition team. She was our team’s favorite physical of the sale back at the barn as well.
MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm partnered on the gorgeous filly, acquiring her for $450,000 and turning her over to Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella in California. She did her best work towards the end of her racing career, becoming a stakes winner and graded stakes-placed as a 4-year-old.
The decision was made following her third-place finish in the 2023 G2 Zenyatta S. to retire Micro Share when our partners at Spendthrift Farm expressed interest in buying the $241K earner and adding her to their broodmare band, as they did with Moonlight D’Oro a few years prior. MyRacehorse agreed to pursue a private sale of our 51% majority stake without running her through the sales ring, guaranteeing our beloved mare an outstanding start to her new career as a broodmare.
MyRacehorse will always cherish our time with Micro Share and we anticipate great things from her foals in the coming years!
