MyRacehorse purchased a stake in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies contender Lazy Daisy from our partners ERJ Racing (NHL Defenseman Erik Johnson), Great Friends Stable and Tom Mansor in 2019.
At the time of acquisition, Lazy Daisy had just come off her career-best performance, winning the G2 Pocahontas S. at Churchill Downs. That victory gave her an automatic berth into the $2-million Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita Park that November.
She was well-beaten at the Breeders’ Cup and in three subsequent starts the following year, however, and it was decided the best decision for the 2017 daughter of Paynter was to move on to her next career. While MyRacehorse was a minority partner in Lazy Daisy, we completely agreed with majority owner Johnson and trainer O’Neill’s decision to retire her. Lazy Daisy sold at the 2021 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale for $80,000 to Mike H. Cline on behalf of Narola LLC and Jason Taylor.
Lazy Daisy has always been a fan favorite. Her laid back, sweet personality and competitiveness on the track attracted all of us in her run up to the 2019 Breeders’ Cup. Her first foal is a now 2-year-old colt by Complexity who most recently sold at the 2024 OBS April Sale. We look forward to following his racing career!
