The 2025 Karaka Sale has once again delivered top-tier bloodstock, and MyRacehorse is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a standout yearling colt by Contributer. Secured in partnership with leading New Zealand trainers Shaun & Ella Clotworthy, trainers of MyRacehorse & NZ Derby favourite Willydoit, this colt boasts an elite staying pedigree and the physical presence to match.
By Group 1-producing sire Contributer, whose progeny dominate the middle-distance and staying ranks including G1 winners Campionessa and Lion’s Roar, this colt is bred for the big stage. He is a full brother to G1 placegetter Premise and a half-brother to Hong Kong Derby contender Fine Proposition, further cementing his credentials as a future Classic contender.
“This is exactly the type of yearling we go to Karaka to buy, a beautifully balanced, sound, and scopey colt, carrying elite staying bloodlines on both sides of his pedigree,” said Shaun Clotworthy. “He has the athleticism and endurance required to excel, and we believe he has Derby potential written all over him.”
Clotworthy’s track record speaks for itself. The trainer behind Willydoit, the current New Zealand Derby favorite, as well as proven performers Hezashocka and Malt Time, he knows what it takes to develop top-tier staying horses.
This purchase was made during a strong renewal of Karaka’s Book 1 session, which saw a total aggregate of $75,322,500 from 588 yearlings. The sale achieved an average price of $164,819 and an improved clearance rate of 78%, reinforcing its reputation as a premier source of high-quality racehorses. All yearlings purchased at Karaka 2025 are eligible for the Karaka Millions Series, adding further incentive for owners looking to compete at the highest level.
