Introducing:

Matt Cumani & Dundeel Colt

MyRacehorse is excited to welcome a new colt by champion sire Dundeel and to introduce our newest trainer, Matt Cumani.

The Colt: Dundeel x Sweet Magnolia

This two-year-old colt combines the best of both sides of his pedigree. From his sire, Dundeel, he inherits athleticism and stamina; from his dam line, which includes Invincible Spirit, he brings precocity and strength.

We are one of the top trainers of Dundeels in the country, I have a particular affinity with this stallion. I really like this guy's type, he not only resembles Dundeel, but has a lot of Invincible Spirit about him. Invincible Spirit is through his Dam side, and this colt looks like he could go relatively early for Dundeel.

Why We Bought In

Since the sales this colt has really grown and developed into a lovely animal. He is athletic, strong, mature and has a lovely loose walk. There are a lot of similarities visually to his sire Dundeel – strength and athleticism – however he is short-coupled and a little more precocious, which he has inherited from his dam line (which has champion sire – Invincible Spirit). Being by Dundeel, we expect him to only get better as a 3YO, however he certainly profiles as the type of colt that could be racing early 2026.

I think he’s really gone on exceptionally well from the sales. He’s grown into a beautiful horse, he is a great loose walker, who has thickened out and grown into an impressive animal. There’s a lot of characteristics in this guy that are symbolic of Dundeel. But he’s also quite short-coupled which comes from his dam line of Shalaa and Invincible Spirit.

The Trainer: Matt Cumani

Joining the MyRacehorse ranks is Matt Cumani, who trains out of Ballarat. Racing is in his blood: his father, Luca Cumani, was one of Europe’s most respected trainers, and his grandfather was a champion trainer in Italy. Matt blends traditional horsemanship with modern methods, and his record with Dundeel progeny made him the perfect fit for this colt.

CURRENT STATUS

We see him getting to the track as a later 2YO (April/May). He will then improve further as a 3YO, where I hope he could be a Guineas horse. If the Guineas is too sharp for him then we will target a Derby.
