Happy Casino - Life Beyond The Racetrack

Happy Casino, our retired 4yo gelding by So You Think might not have been the fastest horse on the racecourse, however he is starting to make his presence felt as a possible rising star in the eventing ranks’ and has great potential to make an eventer
Currently based in Euroa (Victoria), his re-trainer Sophie described him as “one of those boys at school who knows he is attractive and wants to tell people about it”. He has spent the last four months on a re-training program, and Sophie said he is slowly becoming more equipped in the arena and has great potential to make a show jumper, “his quirky personality makes things challenging at times but that is all part of it”.
Sophie has taken Happy Casino to several events, not to compete, but to become familiar with his surroundings and for him to start to realise he will no longer be heading away to the races to compete.
This Saturday, he will head to Shepparton Northern Victoria Show Jumping club to compete for the first time in a 60-70cm jumps competition. MyRacehorse Equine Welfare Consultant Jen Krawzcyk will be in attendance and has promised to take some footage to share with his owners. The MyRacehorse Horse Super Fund has also contributed to having Happy Casino’s custom made MRH saddle cloth ready to be put on display.
The goal with Happy Casino this year is for him to become a full-time event horse, “he is attractive and jumps well”. In the next 5 months the plan will be to get him out to roughly 5 show jumping events and build his experience. If he continues to improve and acquit himself, the Melbourne International, a 3-day event which is Victoria’s biggest competition, held over Queens Birthday weekend in June this year could be his calling! Once Happy Casino becomes competitive, Sophie will start wearing the MyRacehorse silks in the cross country course, a sight we cannot wait to see!
