After four career starts, it was clear that racing might not be Happy Casino’s true calling. In a collaborative decision between MyRacehorse, the Hayes stable and his other owners, he was retired while still in peak health—an ideal welfare-based choice This decision was made feasible by the Horse Super Fund, which covered his retraining expenses, ensuring that Happy Casino’s transition was prioritised and carefully managed.

Happy Casino has now embarked on his post-racing retraining journey with highly regarded retrainer Sophie Fox, near Lindsay Park in Euroa. Known for her expertise and extensive equestrian experience, Sophie has a strong track record in retraining retired racehorses, often partnering with Lindsay Park to rehome their former runners. In her skilled hands, Happy Casino is set up for success, and he appears delighted to start this new chapter. The dedication of all involved in ensuring Happy Casino’s long-term welfare is a prime example of responsible ownership and maximising a horse’s chance for a fulfilling life beyond the racetrack.

The Horse Super Fund provides a tailored Group 1 retirement plan to set horses up for life, ensuring that every MyRacehorse horse—regardless of race track performance receives a comprehensive post-racing pathway with access to quality training and care. Now, under Sophie’s guidance, Happy Casino is learning new skills that will prepare him for a successful second career.
