I’ve entered Tavasco Road in Friday night’s 4th race at Los Alamitos. Race is going 4.5 furlongs for a $16,000 purse. I think he’ll do well here in this spot.

Unfortunately not a very good performance from Tavasco Road today. He lost a shoe during the race, but can’t say that really contributed to the poor performance. We’ll regroup and try to get to the bottom of why he’s not finishing strong.

Tavasco Road has been entered in Saturday’s 4th race at Santa Anita Park, a $12,500 claiming race going six furlongs on the main track. Martin Pedroza will be riding from post 7.

Tavasco Road went a super impressive six furlongs in 1:11.8 this morning at Los Alamitos. He feels very good at the moment and looking forward to a start on the 19th at Santa Anita.

Tavasco Road had an easy maintenance work yesterday at Los Alamitos going five furlongs in 1:01.2. We’ll look to see what the second condition book at Santa Anita has in it or see if an extra race is written. He’s fit and ready to go when the right race comes up.

Tavasco Road worked three furlongs in 36 seconds yesterday at Los Alamitos, best work at the distance. Looking at a few race options here in the next week or so.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with Tavasco Road’s performance last night. It was a really tough field for the condition. Jockey Edgar Payeras told me that Tavasco was a little surprised with the quick turn do to cutting back in distance which isn’t uncommon for horses running at Los Alamitos for the first time.

Tavasco Road finished 4th in tonight’s Snowbound Superstar Stakes at Los Alamitos. He pretty much ran mid pack all race as he was unable to gain on the two leaders who wired the field. We figured it’d be a tough spot going in as it was tough competition from the Quarterhorse ranks but wanted to get a race into him as race options have not been favorable for some time. We’ll see how he comes out of the race and likely point to a claiming race within the first few weeks of the Santa Anita meet.

Tavasco Road has been entered in Sunday night’s Snowbound Superstar Stakes ($20k purse) at Los Alamitos going 870 yards. The race goes at 8:16 pm as race 8.
