Trainer Steve Asmussen is no longer targeting the Gold Fever Stakes this Sunday at Belmont Park with Chasing Time. The new target race on the horizon is the Chick Lang Stakes at Pimlico on Saturday, May 21st, which is a stakes on the Preakness undercard. There are 34 horses nominated to the Chick Lang.
Chasing Time breezed a half mile in 50.1 seconds yesterday morning at Belmont Park and looked fine coming out of the work this morning. Our team will be out to see Chasing Time train in the morning and discuss upcoming race options with trainer Steve Asmussen including a potential entry in Sunday’s Gold Fever Stakes at Belmont.

We are happy to report that Chasing Time scoped clean after his breeze yesterday. He did work on Lasix, which was expected after bleeding during a race.
Fortunately, the bleeding was a one-time experience as of right now, but the Lasix was used as a preventive measure as he returned to more strenuous work.
Chasing Time returned to the work tab this morning at Belmont Park, working a half-mile in 51.60 seconds on the training track. A slower time was expected for his first work back.
We will be in touch with trainer Steve Asmussen in the coming days about his thoughts on Chasing Time’s next start. As previously reported, the six-furlong Gold Fever Stakes at Belmont Park on May 15th and the Grade 3 Chick Lang Stakes at Pimlico on May 21st, also run at six furlongs on the Preakness undercard, are under consideration for the colt’s next start.
