We are glad to announce we have found an amazing home for Noble Goddess. A big thank you to trainer Justin Nixon for the assistance in this process. Noble Goddess is now located at her new home, a privately owned farm in East Gafraxa Ontario.
Nadine Griffith, the owner of the farm, took in Noble Goddess for her 20-year-old daughter to develop into a future show horse. Noble Goddes is doing very well and has a great home with loving owners.
Here are a few pictures sent to us from Nadine Griffith.
Epic Racing, managing partner of Noble Goddess, has decided to retire the four year old filly by Noble Mission. Noble Goddess will be retired sound and headed to trainer Justin Nixon’s farm until further plans are established. It was jointly agreed to retire Noble Goddess rather than dropping her down the claiming ladder.
After receiving time and the winter off, we were hopeful Noble Goddess would return to the races refreshed and in a more competitive fashion. Being a racehorse does not appear to be on Noble Goddess’ mind anymore. As owners, we must listen to what the horse is telling us and do right by the horse.
Once Epic Racing finalizes their retirement plans for her we will relay that information.
Noble Goddess finished a tiring 8th in the 4th race at Woodbine yesterday afternoon. She broke sharply and controlled the pace early. Jockey Justin Stein said she appreciated being back on the grass but when it came time to quicken, she did not respond.
We will be discussing several options with majority partner Epic racing.
Noble Goddess has been entered in Sunday’s 2nd race at Woodbine. A claiming $15,000 for fillies and mares non winners of two races lifetime going one mile in the turf. Noble Goddess is entered for the $14,000 claim which allowed her a two pound weight break. Noble Goddess will break from post 2 and Justin Stein will ride.
Justin Nixon gave her a 5/8th’s breeze in 1:03 earlier this week. Justin is hoping to see an improved performance getting Noble Goddess on the turf.
Here are the financial estimates from Noble Goddess’ race on August 13th.
While it was great to see Noble Goddess back in the races this afternoon, Justin Nixon was expecting a better effort. We were not expecting a win by any means but would have liked to see her finish up down the stretch with more interest. Noble Goddess traveled comfortably for the first half mile and seemed as if she was going to make a minor run but flattened out after floating wide into the turn.
As we mentioned prior to the race, running 7 furlongs off a long layoff is never an easy task regardless of the level. Though she had a few 5/8th’s works under her, she likely needed this race. We would have to expect her to improve next time out having this race under her belt, but that improvement is crucial if she is going to be competitive.
Note on the gallop out she did continue on well, which is a positive. We will see what trainer Justin Nixon and partner Epic Racing thoughts are moving forward.
Noble Goddess had her final work yesterday morning in preparation for her return to the races. She breezed an easy half mile as planned in 50.40 seconds.
Noble Goddess was entered today in Thursday’s 2nd race at Woodbine. A claiming $10,000 for fillies and mares three years old and upward which have never won two races. This race will be contested at 7 furlongs on the all weather track. Though the 7 furlong distance is never easy off the layoff, trainer Justin Nixon reports Noble Goddess has been training well and expects a decent effort first time back. Post time is approximately 12:52 pm PT.
We spoke to partners Epic Racing this afternoon. Noble Goddess was reported to have a nice 5 furlong work over the all weather track (main track) this past Saturday. She covered 5/8th’s of a mile in 1:01.4.
She will be targeting a return to the races on Thursday, August 13th at Woodbine. A claiming $10,000 non winners of two races going 7 furlongs on the all weather surface. Trainer Justin Nixon has said she’s been training well and expects a decent effort first time back. Entries will be taken Friday, August 7th. She will have one more easy breeze prior to the race.
Noble Goddess moved onto a 5 furlong work Friday morning, working in 1:02.4 over the training track. She worked without company this week as it was her first work back at the distance. Noble Goddess is moving along with her fitness and is inching closer to a return to the races. She will return next week with another 5/8th’s of a mile work.
