Going to Vegas Workout Report

Going to Vegas breezed a half-mile in 48.00 seconds this morning over the Santa Anita training track. The 5-year-old mare worked on the outside of stablemate Tournesol, and was always traveling the strongest of the two.

Jockey Mario Guiterrez, who was aboard Going to Vegas this morning, had to keep a strong hold as the duo hit the top of the stretch as Vegas was full of run. With three weeks still to go for the Grade 1 Gamely, trainer Richard Baltas did not want the mare to do more than this today, and this latest work indicates she is plenty fit and ready to go.

Going to Vegas Workout Report

Going to Vegas put in a very sharp breeze yesterday morning over the Santa Anita training track, covering five-furlongs in 1:00.60. Vegas was a bit keen as she left the pole which isn’t unusual for the mare but settled in as she hit the backstretch under jockey Joe Bravo.

Moving into the turn, the mare slipped through the inside of her workmate and separated herself with ease, galloping out in normal fashion.

Going to Vegas will have three additional breezes leading up to the Grade 1 Gamely on May 30th at Santa Anita.

Going to Vegas Race Update

We have decided to pass on Sunday’s Grade 3 Wilshire Stakes and will continue with the original plan of waiting until the Grade 1 Gamely. While Going to Vegas remains in great physical order, this ultimately came down to wanting to keep her as fresh as possible for the bigger races throughout the rest of the year.

Going to Vegas breezed five furlongs in 1:01 (16/36) over the Santa Anita training track on Sunday morning. Breezing under exercise rider Austin Solis, Going to Vegas relaxed extremely well early on and finished down the stretch with enthusiasm.

Going to Vegas was nominated to two races this upcoming weekend at Santa Anita; the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes (April 30) against males and the Grade 3 Wilshire Stakes (May 1). It has not been decided whether or not we will pursue either of these options at this time but the Wilshire would be the preference being against fillies and mares. As we have previously reported, our goal is still the Grade 1 Gamely on May 30th. We will let trainer Richard Baltas determine whether it would be best to use a race to prep for the Gamely or continue to work her up to the race.

We will follow up on Wednesday with a final decision.

Going to Vegas breezed a half-mile in 48.60 seconds this morning over the Santa Anita training track. This was purely a maintenance work being that our next race target will come at the end of May. Vegas worked by herself, under jockey Abel Cedillo taking care of her business very professionally.

Trainer Richard Baltas will keep her on a steady tab over the coming weeks, likely keeping the next few works very similar to this one.
