Classic Cut continues to train in Ocala, Florida with Paul Sharp. While he is ready to be shipped to trainer Brad Cox’s barn, the shipping has proven to be a logistical challenge, leading up to and around the Kentucky Derby. Classic Cut worked last Friday going three furlongs and will likely ship this weekend.
Once we have confirmed shipping times with both Paul and Brad, we will report back.

Classic Cut remains on target to ship to Kentucky the first week of May. This is always an exciting time of year when the 2-year-olds are ready to take the next step in their training. As you will see in the video above, Classic Cut has become more “in the bridle” and engaged in the job, compared to five months ago.
Classic Cut had another three furlong breeze this morning in company and continues to progress. Paul Sharp says that our Empire Maker colt should be ready to ship to Brad Cox’s barn the first week of May.
Classic Cut continues to progress right along as expected. He is on track to breeze another three furlongs, likely on Tuesday. With his progression, farm trainer Paul Sharp is confident that Classic Cut will be ready to ship within the next one to two weeks to trainer Brad Cox’s barn at Keeneland.
Classic Cut stepped it up this morning and had his first three-furlong work at Paul Sharp’s farm. With speed not being the objective, our colt traveled at an easy, comfortable pace, in a pleasing manner to Paul, who says that Classic Cut continues to take the right steps forward in his training.

When he enters the track, you will see he walks through a narrow gap on the side of the starting gate, which is almost equivalent to walking through the actual gate. He won’t receive any serious gate education while in Florida, but it’s always nice to see the young horses be comfortable with walking through such tight quarters.
We can expect Classic Cut to work again this weekend and will follow up with a workout report.
We have begun discussing a shipping timeline for Classic Cut to arrive in trainer Brad Cox’s barn. Before then, we would like to see him have a few more works going three furlongs at Paul Sharp’s farm. Once Classic Cut is ready to ship from Florida, he will be heading to Brad’s barn at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.
Classic Cut worked an untimed quarter of a mile on Friday. Our 2-year-old Empire Marker colt worked in company on the outside of his workmate. Classic Cut continues to progress with each work and remains on target for a later spring departure to trainer, Brad Cox.
