Celebrity News has been entered in the $200,000 Park Avenue Stakes going six and a half furlongs at Aqueduct on Sunday, April 24th. With Manny Franco staying aboard, Celebrity News will add blinkers for the first time as she breaks from post four of seven in this race which is restricted to the progeny of horses sired by New York-based stallions at the time of conception. Taking the step into stakes is tough for any horse, especially one that is a maiden, but after Celebrity News’ closing performance last out, George Weaver thought this would be a terrific stepping-stone for our daughter of Laoban and a good opportunity to acquire some black-type, which would add to her residual value as a future broodmare.
