Workout Report

Naismith breezed his first half-mile this morning, working in company with stablemate, Bender. The duo covered 4 furlongs in 49.60 over the Santa Anita main track.

Naismith was always traveling well within himself today and “is making good progress” according to assistant Gary Mandella. This soon to be three-year-old colt appears to love his job and is naturally competitive in his works.

Cayala ’19 Video Update

In less than six hours, Cayala ’19, shown here yesterday in his stall at King’s Equine in Florida, will officially become a 2-year-old. The son of Into Mischief, like our other young horses at King’s Equine, is getting a little break from training during the holidays before ramping things up in the coming weeks.

Margaret Reay ’19 Video

As the clock winds down on 2020, Margaret Reay ’19 is about to shed the status of being a yearling in exchange for the title of 2-year-old. Shown here yesterday in her stall at King’s Equine, this daughter of Uncle Mo was very intent upon getting that itch scratched!

Workout Report

Bella Chica had her first work back this morning, breezing 3 furlongs in 37.4 seconds over the Santa Anita training track. Bella Chica was not asked for anything serious in this easy solo drill.

Trainer Mike Puype was pleased the work from her this morning. As Mike mentioned yesterday, this work was just a starting point for her. She’ll continue to pick up the pace in the coming weeks.

Ambleside Park ’19 Turns 2 Tomorrow

Our sweet Lookin At Lucky colt turns 2 tomorrow!

Quick Conversation Work Update

Quick Conversation worked this morning from the starting gate at Payson Park. Working on the outside with company, Quick Conversation covered four furlongs in 50.80 seconds.

“I thought the work was good,” trainer Christophe Clement reported. “She was moving well. She behaved well and came out of the gate well. She took the work in stride. Let’s keep going with her and get her to the races.”

Christophe said it’s possible that the daughter of Frosted would be ready to make her career debut in February.

Moonlight d’Oro Race Update

Per Team Mandella, Moonlight d’Oro will pass on the Grade 2 Santa Ynez as expected and will target the Grade 2 Las Virgenes on February 6th.

Trainer Richard Mandella would like to keep her going two turns based on her maiden breaking effort. Moonlight d’Oro also being on the “lighter” side physically, we believe the additional time between races will be beneficial for her as well. We will keep you updated on her work schedule ahead, Moonlight is expected to return to the worktab in the next 1-2 weeks.
