Race Recap

Unfortunately Wayne O struggled to finish down the lane again today in finishing 5th in today’s seventh race at Saratoga. A few factors went against him but ultimately he’ll have to improve significantly to show us the talent we have all been seeing in the mornings and on the backside. First, the plan was to grab a hold of Wayne O today and teach him to rate off the pace a little. That plan was thrown a wrench when Wayne O broke very sharply and found himself on the lead again. Riders have to adapt when the gates open and we found ourselves on the lead, not a big deal but would’ve liked to see him rate. Secondly, we found ourselves on the rail again which has practically been dead and very tiring the entire meet. Over the past few weeks a lot of winners in dirt races have been making moves off the lead and out in the middle of the track.

While we are all a little disappointed in how these first two races have gone it’s important to remember that it’s a marathon and not a sprint and there’s a long ways to go. Assistant trainer Scott Blasi said afterwards “a lot of horses don’t care for Saratoga, he might be one of them, we’ll be alright moving forward.” That of course doesn’t guarantee us anything but we’ll march on and look forward to seeing a more mature Wayne O down the line. We’ll get together with Steve and Spendthrift Farm in the next few weeks to determine the next steps for Wayne O.

Race Update

The sub race for Monday, September 2nd at Ellis Park was not used. There are few spots in early September at Arlington and Indiana Grand which we will be pointing towards.  More updates to come!

Noble Goddess will also have a slight equipment adjustment change cutting down to a smaller cheater blinker. Nothing major here, cutting the blinker down will allow her to see a little more but still enough to keep her focused.

Fast Anna Leads Freshman Sires
