Workout Report

Vertical Threat recorded his first 3 furlong work this morning at San Luis Rey in 38.20. He worked in company with his usual workmate, Unusual Secret. He continues to train forwardly and will look to work another three-eighths next week. Anytime a horse, especially a two year old is doing something new for the first time even as simple as adding a little extra distance to a work, the first go around a practice run in a sense. We want to see how he handles himself and then will ask him to do a little bit more the next time.

Trainer Change

MyRacehorse and Kenwood Racing have been working over the past months on a solution regarding trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s situation with being unable to race at various tracks throughout the country. While ultimately Jerry has taken the upmost care of the horse and we respect his horsemanship, this situation put a lot of his ownership groups including us in a difficult position. It is important to note that he has not been in any violation of any rules and the final chapter of the story is far from being written. However with so much uncertainty surrounding the situation and with the horse nearing a return to the races all parties agreed to make a change. Accordingly MyRacehorse and Kenwood have purchased Jerry Hollendorfer’s and George Todaro’s 30 percent stake in the horse and have transferred the horse to trainer Jonathan Wong’s barn.

Night of Idiots will jump right back into her work schedule after getting acclimated in the Wong barn. This will give both horse and trainer time to get a feel for each other!

Successful Surgery

Utalknboutpractice surgery was a success. A chip fragment was cleanly removed from the front left ankle. The recovery time for this is two months, which fits right into his original 90 day rest period. In approximately two weeks he can start to be hand walked for 5 minutes per day. Each week that will increase an additional 5 minutes until he reaches 30 minutes of walking a day, which then he will be examined for his return to the track based off the status of his tibia.

Workout Report

Carpe Vinum worked this past Saturday going 3 furlongs in 39 seconds flat at San Luis Rey. Being her first 3/8th work, the time was not intended to be fast. She worked in company with another 2 year old filly by Pioneer of the Nile by the name of Blue Sky Baby. She will work another 3 furlongs next Saturday, asking her to do a little more each week.
