Race Entry

Nileist is officially entered this Thursday, June 6th at Golden Gate, a maiden $20,000 for 3 years old and up going 1 mile and a sixteenth on the turf course. Ruben Fuentes is in the irons breaking from the 6 post in race number 4. Ruben was also aboard her in the most recent workout today, he really liked his work today and will be traveling up to Golden Gate for us.

Another Great Update

Just got off the phone with our vet up in Santa Ynez and news keeps getting better with Bella Chica. She should be off antibiotics in less than a month. I didn’t ask the question of when can she go back to work but I believe she’ll be in round pen before we know it. I usually don’t spend more than two weeks there as I prefer them jogging at the track. She’s been on the vibrating plate two times at day for a while so her muscles shouldn’t have atrophied. I’ve learned not to get to up or down in this business but it will take something for me not to smile all afternoon.

Workout and Race Update

Nileist Workout 5-31

Nileist worked four furlongs in 48.8 from the gate this morning at Santa Anita. Trainer Andrew Lerner was again very pleased with this work. At the end of the video, you can hear a brief exchange between rider Ruben Fuentes and trainer Andrew Lerner. They both had only good things to say about Nileist.

Trainer Andrew Lerner is looking at a race Thursday, June 6th at Golden Gate which entries are being taken today. It is a Maiden Claiming $20,000 going a mile on the turf. Andrew will be keeping his eye on entries over the next few hours. Be on the lookout for updates to come!

Squared Straight Update

Trainer Doug O’Neill informed us that Squared Straight has just a “smidgen of a shin” he’s dealing with right now. Not anything of significance. This is very typical with two-year old’s at this stage of their training. For those who don’t know its akin to shin splints in humans. Doug said he’d give him about two weeks off before resuming any training. Updates to follow.
