Eddie is still pointing to the Solana Beach Stakes for Moonless Sky. This race will be run on Friday, August 10th. Last year, Moonless ran a game race to finish second by a nose. 2017 Solana Beach Stakes
We did reserve the Del Mar Luxury Suite for the race for the owners. This is a premium event and will be about $80.00 per ticket (only a few tickets will be available). Tickets will be available on Sunday, July 29th in the events section of the app.
Soul Beam continues to get over the this track nicely. Today he worked solo, went off easy from the pole and picked it up nicely through the turn, coming home in 36 2/5 (final time 1:02.8). He showed good response when asked.
Video of the work.
Soul Beam worked a half mile in 50 seconds flat this morning at Del Mar under jockey Bryan Pena. Soul Beam moved very easy and was even keeled throughout the breeze. The plan moving forward is to let him settle in some more and get another workout in before targeting a race in the second condition book (a few more weeks).
Soul Beam will breeze today at 9am
Moonless Sky is entered in Saturday’s fourth race going a mile on the turf. Moonless drew post 10 in a field of 10. Jockey Rafael Bejarano gets the mount. Bejarano was Del Mar’s leading jockey from 2013-2016, so we have a jockey who knows his way around Del Mar. Eddie is very upbeat about the race and we’re hoping for a great effort Saturday.
Note: For anyone attending the Morning Workout event on Saturday Moonless Sky will now be off limits for the backstretch visit due to the race date change. Most trainers, including Eddie like to keep their horses in a zone as much as possible on race day.
Soul Beam very bright, good looking, and on task this morning after his jog. Here he is enjoying a nice bath afterwards. From Genaro: “he’s settled in nicely after shipping in from Kentucky, I think the change of scenery has done him some good.”
Moonless Sky will now be entered to race on Saturday going a mile on the turf at Del Mar. Per the previous post Eddie thought the Osunitas on Friday came up a bit tougher than expected and Saturday’s race carries a bigger purse.
No, not that Audible!
We just heard from Eddie Truman that he may opt for next Saturday’s allowance optional claiming race at a mile on the turf versus the Osunitas Stakes on Friday. Eddie thinks Saturday’s race may come up a little easier and it comes with a bigger purse. We’ll provide an update when the decision is finalized.
Soul Beam had his first gallop at Santa Anita this morning since arriving in So Cal. He’ll head to Del Mar on Tuesday and if all goes well may breeze late next week.
