Cairo Kiss Update

Cairo Kiss is just getting back into serious training after some R&R after the two-year old sale in April. Phil is going to San Luis Rey today and will give me some more on her this afternoon. His words yesterday were that she is super athletic and light on her feet. She floats over the ground and you found a good one, he said. All excellent news so far, more to come!

Swiss Minister Race

We received the following from Nick Hines of Battle Born Racing:

“As you’ve been made aware, Swiss aka the “Big cheese” is entered to race on Sunday at LARC. While I must admit the race came up tougher (Baffert squared – who’s he anyway?) than anticipated, I love the draw (outside for him is best) and on paper, there’s a ton of speed to behoove his stretch kick (track seemed to be playing pretty fair today)! Genaro seems pleased as to how well he looks and is training, the hyperbaric treatment and freshening undoubtedly did Swiss’ some good.

While I know that Nick is out of town and Vito cannot attend, I will be in attendance and am looking forward to seeing the MyRacehorse partners out at the track, let’s get lucky!”

Best,

Nick

Swiss Minister Race 8 July 1st

Genaro Vallejo has entered Swiss Minister in Sunday’s 8th race at Los Alamitos. The race is an Allowance Optional Claiming, Five and One Half Furlongs on the dirt, with a purse of $45,000 plus $13,500 added for California Breds (and yes, Swiss Minister is eligible.)

** There are still shares available, but to be eligible for a dividend payout you must purchase your share prior to post time.

Moonless Sky Payout

After Moonless Sky placed 2nd last week, we have a surplus in our training account, therefore a special dividend has been added to all owners who held a share prior to post time on 6/21/18.

We were so close to a much bigger payout (check out the photo). Looking forward to her upcoming race in Del Mar.

Swiss Minister Update

Genaro Vallejo has entered Swiss Minister in Sunday’s 8th race at Los Alamitos. The race is an Allowance Optional Claiming, Five and One Half Furlongs on the dirt, with a purse of $45,000 plus $13,500 added for California Breds (and yes, Swiss Minister is eligible.)

A couple of highlights:

This is an Allowance Optional Claiming, which means the owner has the option of listing their horse for sale. In this race Swiss Minister was not made eligible to be claimed.

With the Cal Bred bonus, this is a very attractive purse, with 60 percent going to the winner. If we do cross the finish line first, that is a little over $35,000 to the winning connections. MyRacehorse owns 10 percent, so we are looking at around $3,500 less trainer and jockey commissions. Payments will be made to your online account 7-10 days after the race.

Jockey Brayan Pena gets back on board after being unable to ride the last race. Brayan has developed quite the rapport with Swiss over the past year. We hope that Swiss enjoys the long Los Alamitos stretch that should suit his running style quite well.

Workout Recap

Swiss Minister went an easy five furlongs in 1:01.3 this morning under jockey Tiago Pereira and galloped out six furlongs in 1:14 flat. Swiss came home the final quarter mile in 24.1 seconds with minimal urging. Genaro was very happy with the work, Swiss cooled out great, and all systems appear to be a go for a race at Los Alamitos on July 1st.

Moonless Sky Race Recap

What an exciting day for Moonless Sky owners! While we ended up on the wrong side of the photo finish, Moonless Sky ran a terrific race finishing second and picking up a check of $16,380 along the way. Kudos to trainer Eddie Truman for having Moonless ready to rock and roll second out off the layoff. New jockey Geovanni Franco had Moonless a bit more engaged early on today and then wisely took back noticing a hot pace developing in front of Moonless. As Moonless hit the top of the stretch with great momentum she pounced on the leaders within the final furlong, but in the last jump right before the wire Lynne’s Legacy got the lucky head bob to nose us out. Despite the agony of defeat all parties were extremely happy with Moonless’ run (including her excited owners who made it out to the races today!) and are looking forward to a summer of fun at Del Mar with her. Once we see how Moonless comes out of this race we’ll talk with Eddie Truman and Pappas Racing to formulate the Del Mar plan.

Swiss Race Update

“We are gonna pass on the 5 furlong race for Swiss on Saturday as our trainer feels that the distance may be a bit short and it’s coming up pretty salty for a moderate purse. Will weigh options for his next start, possibly looking at an Allowance 1x down the hill on Turf Sunday 6/24 or an Allowance 1x at Los Alamitos on 7/1.” – Nick Hines

In the meantime, we are working on Swiss and his “sharing” skills with his friend Dalia.
